Juha Robin Piironen (born 12 December 1963) is a Finnish singer and songwriter. He competed in SuomenLaulu 1 with the song "Enough" along with Saara Valkama.

Life and career[]

Early life[]

Piironen was born on 12 December 1963 in Kuusamo, Northern Ostrobothnia. His parents owned a farm, and he grew up with three older brothers, two younger brothers, and a younger sister. At age 13, he was diagnosed with leukemia, and turned to music during this time. He went into remission three years later.

Piironen graduated from compulsory education in 1979. He then began attending a music school, which he graduated from in 1982. He completed his mandatory military service in 1983.

Music career[]

After completing his mandatory military service, Piironen returned home to Kuusamo where he continued to work on his parents farm, while pursuing music as a hobby. After his mom and dad's deaths in 2008 and 2005, respectively, Piironen began working on the farm less and making music his top priority. He moved to Helsinki in 2012 to pursue music professionally. After arriving in Helsinki, he found himself performing as a songwriter and working as a horse trainer to support himself. He was signed to independent label Suomen Musiikki in 2015.

In 2016, he recorded the song "Enough" with Saara Valkama, and submitted it to SuomenLaulu 1, Finland's national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. They ended up qualifying as finalists, and placed sixth in the final, placing sixth in the jury vote and seventh with the public vote.

Personal life[]

Piironen married Katariina Kauppila in 1988. They have three children together; Mika, born in 1990, Joonas, born in 1993, and Piia, born in 1998. They divorced in 2006.
